# agent-browser

Fast browser automation CLI for AI agents. Chrome/Chromium via CDP with accessibility-tree snapshots and compact `@eN` element refs.

Install: `npm i -g agent-browser && agent-browser install`

## Start here

This file is a discovery stub, not the usage guide. Before running any `agent-browser` command, load the actual workflow content from the CLI:

The CLI serves skill content that always matches the installed version, so instructions never go stale. The content in this stub cannot change between releases, which is why it just points at `skills get core`.

## Observability Dashboard

The dashboard runs independently of browser sessions on port 4848 and can also be opened through a proxied or forwarded URL such as `https://dashboard.agent-browser.localhost`. Agents should stay on the dashboard origin: session tabs, status, and stream traffic are proxied internally, so session ports do not need to be exposed.

## Known footguns (local, v0.32.2)

- Viewport: the command is `agent-browser set viewport <w> <h>` — in help output, `viewport <w> <h>` is a subcommand listed under the `set` section header; grepping the line without its header misreads it as a top-level command (which errors "Unknown command").
- Screenshots run the page `visibility:hidden`, so framer-motion/rAF animations freeze between captures; there is no force-visible flag yet — capture animation states via interaction (scroll/hover) before screenshotting, or accept the frozen frame.
- `screenshot --full <path>`: the flag goes before the path.
- `screenshot --full` silently wraps at Chrome's 16384px texture cap: on pages taller than ~16k device px the capture repeats earlier content below that line instead of erroring (observed 2026-07-22 on a 24.5k px page). Verify tail sections by scrolling + viewport screenshots instead.
- **Multi-agent machines: the default daemon session is SHARED.** Another agent's `open` can hijack your active tab between your commands (you screenshot their page), and `close --all` kills every agent's sessions, not just yours (observed 2026-07-21, bakeoff: killed a concurrent agent's live run). Always `export AGENT_BROWSER_SESSION=<unique-name>` before your first command, and close only your own session — never `close --all`.
